Some bummer news for west coast RunDisney fans …
RunDisney has announced they will be stopping their race weekends at Disneyland Resort after the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend.
Here is the official statement as posted on the official RunDisney website:
Due to upcoming construction impacts, runDisney races at the Disneyland® Resort will be placed on hiatus in 2026 after the conclusion of the 2026 Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend presented by HONDA. We will continue to offer races at Walt Disney World® Resort, as well as virtual offerings.
The construction impacts mentioned are likely due to DisneylandForward, a 10-year plan to expand the theme parks into underutilized land around the resort, starting with the expansion of Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.
While it’s sad to lose these popular race weekends, it is understandable that the resort will not be able to plan running routes a couple years in advance like they normally do, with all the potential construction happening.
But never fear, runners, for it seems like races aren’t leaving Walt Disney World any time soon!
